On our Brown’s Canyon Bonus Half-Day Trip, we do two more rapids than other rafting companies on the Arkansas River. Other rafting companies only do six of the major rapids in Brown’s Canyon on their half-day trips. They miss the last two big rapids, Seidel’s Suckhole and Twin Falls, because they use the public takeout at Hecla Junction. We share a private takeout with one other rafting company so we raft all eight of the major rapids in Brown’s Canyon.
On our Brown’s Canyon One-Day Trip, we have a put-in at our office in Johnson Village. This is not only more convenient for our customers but is also more economical for us. Since we do not have to shuttle our customers to a public put-in, we can give you a better deal on a one-day rafting trip.
On our multi-day rafting adventures, we give you the most whitewater possible in a two- or three-day rafting trip. On our deluxe overnighters, we camp on private land in a beautiful, secluded spot adjoining our takeout for our Brown’s Canyon trips. We offer you a better camping experience for less money than companies that carry their camping gear on their rafts and camp on public land in Brown’s Canyon. Rather than taking a one-day trip and stretching it into two days by camping in Brown’s Canyon, we raft all of Brown’s Canyon on the first day of your trip and give you a choice of three other great sections of whitewater for your second and third days of rafting.

Guide Training
and Summer Jobs
Acquired Tastes Whitewater Rafting hires both full-time and weekend whitewater rafting guides, full-time office interns, and camp managers for the summer. We will train people who are willing to make the commitment in time and effort to learn these jobs and do them well.
Acquired Tastes' raft guide training not only meets but far exceeds the guide training standards set by the State of Colorado. After completing guide training and passing your final check out run, you will be a certified guide and can guide in Colorado and many other states.
Our customers frequently compliment us on how professional, skilled, and personable our guides are. We train our own rafting guides so we have control over the quality of training our guides receive. Rather than doing the minimum amount of training required by the State of Colorado, we focus on training fewer guides extremely well. We charge less for guide training than most other rafting companies because we do not run guide training as a money-maker. We only bring people into our training class who we feel will share our commitment to providing the highest quality rafting trips in Colorado.
All raft guide training is done on the Arkansas River. Most of your training will be in Brown’s Canyon since our Brown’s Canyon trips are our most popular whitewater rafting trips.
Although we do not require previous guiding experience, we do require people who come into our raft guide training program to have previous work experience. Guiding is a fun job but it is still a job. We can teach people to guide if they are willing to work.
We have a great group of guides working for us and it is important that we bring people into the company who will share our commitment to excellence. We want guides and employees who enjoy the challenges and rewards of the job and who are committed to providing the best rafting trips possible for our customers.
